Dear QEA Family,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! It is a pleasure to welcome both our returning families and those who are new to QEA. As expected, our enrollment continues to grow as we expand our reach in Winston-Salem and the surrounding communities. I am grateful that you have chosen QEA to partner in your scholar's education.
QEA School Leaders, Teachers and Support Staff spent a great deal of time during the summer preparing for the upcoming year. Having to open school virtually due to the ongoing pandemic, has been no small feat! However, our staff stepped up to the challenge and will continue to do so moving forward.
Summer is also a time for our staff to focus on their own learning – something they do not have as much time for during the school year when emphasis is on teaching our scholars. Over the summer, staff engaged in numerous workshops, courses and other professional development to enrich their knowledge base and learn innovative ways to offer the best educational experience to our scholars. Thank you QEA staff for continuing to be life-long learners.
With the start of a new school year, it affords us the opportunity to develop new goals, build new relationships, and embark upon new challenges. Our school-wide goals this year highlight academic, social, and emotional learning with an emphasis on being excellent in all we do. While improving scholar achievement is an important part of our mission, we know it is essential to focus on the social and emotional needs of our scholars, especially during these uncertain times. QEA stands ready to meet the needs of our families and connect them with other community agencies that can assist as well.
Lastly, one of the most important and fulfilling parts of my job is to connect with teachers, scholars, parents, and the community on a regular basis. I welcome the chance to both share our opportunities and challenges and to address any questions or concerns that you may have. As we continue throughout this journey, please accept my best wishes for a wonderful and productive school year. I have no doubt that if we work together, we can accomplish all we dream of and more.
Let's all have a QUALITY year!
Your Partner in Education,
