Here’s how you can help your student be successful in middle
school:
- Encourage your middle school child to talk about his
fears.
Support your child at home by talking about his day.
Expect your child to act responsibly: doing homework
regularly, getting to class on time, using a planner for
assignments, etc.
Prepare a quiet, organized place for him to do
homework free from distractions.
Stay involved! Volunteer to be on hand for school
activities.
Get to know your child’s teachers.
Be patient with attitudes—they change by the day or
the hour!
Allow some independent thought—different hair or
clothing styles, within reason, may help them to express
themselves.
Don’t let the media shape their opinions!
